The painting questions the monogamy of human beings and the holy matrimony, giving in to misunderstandings about human behavior. The pattern in the background is transformed from a bird holding its wings down, not allowed to fly, and again in Italian 'uccello' meaning bird is another word for the male sex. Putting the birds together into a pattern strangely enough this other form arose...
