This work derives from pictures of african women. Curiously enough taking away their colour and lips they don't look very african. But the work is not about physionomy, but about violence, violence against women such as infibulation, forced upon young women because of cultural traditions and male dominance. It is a horrific crime and a highly traumatic experienze which sometimes causes death. The images can be seen also as violence in general and the prohibition of free speech...things to be silenced.
