Birds are a wonderful way of depicting human behavior: bravado, vanity, and coquetry. It is also interesting to note that in the Christian and Islamic imagery, we find certain types of birds, associated with human wit, values, and spiritual capacities (just think about ‘the conference of the birds’). Flowers and seeds, on the other hand, often allude to the female or masculine sex (the human reproductive organs) and can be used as an interesting alternative to comment on those things.
